Philip Tasos Anastasi
26.7.1949 – 7.11.2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Philip Tasos Anastasi following a long illness.
Philip (born Anastasis) was the son of Phillipos and Pavlou Anastasi originally from Episkopi tou Morou Nerou and Achna respectively.

Philip was born in Cyprus but moved early on to Leyton in the East End of London. As a teenager he became a skilled bass player in a number of Beat Groups, including with the band The Millionaires, charting with their single “Wishing Well” in 1966. He then had a long and successful career as a respected Art Teacher and Head of Faculty. He also became a prominent member of the Art Teachers Association.

Philip is survived by his wife Maro Anastasi (nee Tsappis), his sons Paul, Philip and George, his daughter Anna, five grandchildren and his brother George.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a skilled musician, artist and an avid reader. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He made everybody welcome.

The funeral took place at 12 .00 midday on Thursday 28 November at the Greek Orthodox Church of St Panteleimon in Harrow, and the burial was at Pinner New Cemetery. We are grateful to all those who were able to attend and to those who sent their condolences who could not be there. We were touched by your sentiments and overwhelmed by your kind donations in his memory.

ΤΑΣΟΣ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ ΑΝΑΣΤΑΣΗ

Με μεγαλη θλιψη ανακοινωνουμε το θανατο του αγαπημενου μας συζυγου, πατερα, παππου και αδελφου Τασο Φιλιππου Ανασταση, στις 7 Νοεμβριου, μετα απο μακροχρονια ασθενεια, σε ηλικια 75 χρονων.Ο Τασος ηταν γιος του Φιλιππου και Παυλους Ανασταση ( απο την Επισκοπη Παφους και Αχνα). Γεννηθηκε στην Κυπρο αλλα ηλθε στο Λονδινο απο μικρης ηλικιας και μεγαλωσε στο ανατολικο Λονδινο.

Εργαστηκε για πολλα χρονια σαν καθηγητης και μετα  διευθυντης του τμηματος Τεχνης.

Ηταν επισης επιδεξιος κιθαριστας και ηταν μελος διαφορων συγκροτηματων στα νεανικα του χρονια.

Εγκαταλειπει την συζυγο του Μαρω (γενος Τσαππη απο την Αχνα), τα παιδια του Παυλο, Αννα, Φιλιππο και Γιωργο, πεντε εγγονια, αδελφο Γιωργο και πολλους συγγενεις και φιλους, που θα τον θυμουνται με πολυ αγαπη.
 
Η κηδεια θα τελεσθει την Πεμπτη 28 Νοεμβριου 2024 στις 12 το μεσημερι απο το ναο Αγιου Παντελεημονα, 660 Kenton Road, Harrow, HA3 9QN και η ταφη η ωρα 2μμ στο Pinner New Cemetery, Pinner Road, Pinner HA5 5RH.
